How is geometry a part of our lives?

Think about what you have been exploring during our Geometry units in math class. Name at least 1 concept you learned about geometry, and describe how it relates or connects to your life!

I learned finding area of triangles and parellograms. I think this relates to people in construction, like a contractor. Or a pool builder. If they could, they can make trinagle shaped rooms and pools. And they would need to be able to find the area of it to see if it needs to be longer ti fit how high/low you want that room or pool to be.
i learned about perimeter and area for different shapes like squares. It relates to life for a carpenter and a construction worker. A carpenter would need to know the perimeter for where to put the carpet and a constuction worker would need to know how big to make the room or house.
I like volleyball and it relates to geometry. For serves your arm has to be at a ceratin angle and you also want to be in the middle of the line so you have to find the middle of line like a line of symetry.
I like to play with a big ball outside for volleyball and it is like a sphere and if you just hold it. It will have a lot of symmetry lines in it. So when you pass it, and put two hands on the ball it, your hands are congruent! So there are many things!
I like basketball and this relates to gemometry because the quart is symmetrical and the ball is a sphere. When you shoot the ball you have to put your arm at a certain angle to make the ball go in.
Geometry is part of my life because play soccer and the midfield line is also a line of symmetry. The front of the goals also form a rectangle which means that there are 4 right angles in the goal. Also the soccer ball is a sphere.
Geometry is in my life because many everyday items are symmetrical, congruent, similar, have perimeters, and areas like a computer for example the screen has four lines of symmetry. Geometry is also in sports and jobs. This is how geometry is in my life!
I love to play basketball and it realtes to geometry because of the way you shoot the ball. You could have your arm at a 90 degree angle and make the shot or you could have your arm at a 180 degree angle and miss because your arm was too in front of you.
if you play baseball the infield is shaped like a rhombus so if u cut it in half you get 2 triangles. the baseball is a shere so it has an infinante amount of semitry lines.
It is like my life because i like to play soccer and the soccer field has 2 lines of symetry and has four right angles which are some things we learned in our unit.
i think that geometry is crucial to people who build things, if they use even the slightes of the wrong shapes, or at the wrong angle, the entire project could be ruined
I sometimes shoot baskets outside and I use a basketball and it is a Sphere.
I like to do puzzles and if you want to see if the puzzle could fit on the table your using you could find the area of the puzzle and the table.
Geometry is crucial to an arichatect because they have to make all the sides of the house straight or noone will buy it.
i love to play soccer and it realtes to geometry becausewhn you kick the ball you have to bring your leg back and it forms a acute angle.
I LOVE to play lacrosse and lacrosse has to do with geometry for many reasons. Some of those reasons are that the field is a rectangle and it is symmetrical too. Also the lacrosse ball is a sphere and the nets/goals that we use are triangles. In a way the net of the lacrosse stick can be a triangle too.
What relates to geometery is how you would swim in a pool of water when doing the freestyle. Your arms are like paddles and are at different angles at different degrees when you push you arms over the your head and through teh water. The same thing like when you kick with your legs up and down, they are at different angles to.
I been learning about triangles and how to find their areas. I also been learning about line of symytrys it realates to my life because i play football and the football field has a line of symitry.
I love to play soccer and soccer relates to geometry because the midlfield line is a line of symmetry, the soccer ball is a sphere, and the goalie box and goals are rectangles.
I play baseball and baseball has a lot to do with geometry. You have to swing at the correct angle. Also, the infield has lines of symmetry.Lastly, home plate is a pentagon, and all the other bases are quadrilaterals.
I play football and a football is symetrical and the field is a rectangle
Geometry is my favorite math subject because it is truly all around us...since I love sports, there are always examples of symmetry, like when an offensive line and defensive line line up against each other...also, I like that a football doesn't technically have a shape name...we're often using pizza to demonstrate geometric concepts, and I love eating pizza...I find it interesting when I raise my right hand in the mirror, my reflection raises his left hand...and it's amazing (not sure if you know this) that two full basketballs can fit into a basket at once!
I learned how to find the area of triangles, trapezoids, squares, rectangles, and parrellograms. If you were to make a soccer field, you would need maybe a referee. Also, certain teams with a certain age group uses a smaller field than older kids. From knowing how to measure a rectangle, I can predict when I should run or pass the ball to someone in a soccer game.
I think that it is a part of life because like in football you play on a rectangle field. Another way is in Baseball the baseball is a sphere. So shapes are a big part in our lifes even though we don't notice it.
I learned how to find the area of all the shapes. I am a soccer maniac my schedule is eat, learn, sleep, soccer!!! Soccer is a part of geometry because it has the midfield line and that is only 1 line of symmetry. Soem rectangles are goalies box. In every corner of the soccer field there are the markings that are a half circle. That relates to the degrees and angles unit.
I learned that I need to use geometry a lot because i like to play a lot of online games, RPGs, MMORPGs, etc. Since most of these games I play involve like getting a ball into a goal or net or something like that i have to measure the angle that i might shoot it in and determine from that how much power i have to put into it.
i use my geometry in online games like what angle to shoot a cat out of a cannon or which move i should use to attack.i also sometimes use it if i'm trying to get cheats for a game or just like to look at some.
I learned about angles in the geometry unit. In hockey you use angles when you are shooting the puck at the goal and when checking someone.
When we learned about angles it would help a lot if one of us were to become an engineer or carpenter because that is when you actually have to create the angles or build the structures.
I love to skate. It relates to geometry because when you spin you have to stay in one spot and make a circle. Also, when your arms are out they shoud form a strait angle.
I like to play lacrosse and there are many geometry things in lacrosse. For example, the field is a rectangle, and there is the line of symmetry in the midfield line. Also when you shoot the lacrose ball you shoot at all different angles and the lacrosse ball is a sphere.
1 concept I learned about geometry is finding the area of triangles, trapozoids, circles, and a parallelogram this relates to many different people in contruction like a contracter Ex.if you were to build a house you would need to find the area of the room and see what size carpet you would need to bye to put over the wood floor. Math is my FAVORITE subject because it involves many different levels and skills and you may need it ALOT when you get older and you use math everyday.
A concept i learned was are and perimeter. This would be very important to carpenters, and architects. Carpenters need to know how much floor they are covering, and architects need to know th area of what they can build on and plan out what they are building.
I think that it is in my life beacuase most things you look at have symatry like the tv picture and other things
geometry is apart of are life because i take gymnastics and the balance beam is symetrical. And the shapes we learn in class we use everyday in different ways
One thing that I learned in math class about geometry was about symmetry. Symmetry connects to my life because I play soccer and the soccer field is symetrical.
One thing i learn from grometry is how to improve you sett in volleyball because if you hit the ball over the net and your and are flat that is not really considered a spike or sett, but if youyou take you thumb and you index finger and form a acut angle with them and then bend your knees you have a better sett and a better chance in getting it over the net.
It helps my brother and I figure out who has the bes computer monitor etc.
I learned many things in geometry. I like to swim and pools are symetrical. Some pools have 4 lines of symetry(if they are square.) I also enjoy playing online games and they are also made with geometry such as the Sims.
How wide is the sun?
The sun is 1,000,000 kilometers wide. The earth is 12,756 kilometers wide. Jupiter is smaller then the sun it is only 142,600.
